Its here! The cargo is finally here! – 24 May 2011

24 May 2011
Another sunny day, good news as the cargo finally arrived and we went to the hangar to sort out which equipment stays in Anadyr and which is to be loaded onto the helicopter to take to Meinypilgyno. It had been battered a bit since Nige sent it in late April from Slimbridge. We had to bus it to the town with the equipment and bring back some of it to the hotel.

A busier afternoon and six of us were involved. No searching for wildlife today but I saw a White Wagtail near the hangar along with House Sparrows and from the hotel window a pair of Eurasian Teal and the Arctic Skuas chasing a Vega Gull. I also saw an eagle  flying out over the sea ice. Jochen came in at 2145 and reported a party of Long-tailed Skuas and 1500 Brent Geese.

Now we are on standby for a helicopter flight to the south. We are at the mercy of the weather and will see what tomorrow brings.
