As far as news is concerned the most important event today was all of us attending a presentation at the community centre. We prepared some images for use beforehand. At 1650 we headed over and set up.
Pavel introduced us all and explained all about the project from when it began in the early 2000’s using a slideshow to highlight this. He spent a while covering every aspect and handed over to Nikolay who gave a talk and slideshow on the spoon-billed sandpiper.
I was invited to explain WWT’s role with interpretive help from Liza. We invited questions and answered them and handed over to Gerrit who gave a show of his fantastic images.
Pavel rounded things up covering other threatened species of Russia. Gerrit invited all to watch video of SBS on his laptop, many crowded around to see the stunning images.
We had around 35 people show up, many children attended which was great to see and the SBS team have been invited to make it an annual event.
That’s just fantastic and such an important step in conserving the species on its breeding grounds. Brilliant. I know the days are long and the work is hard but you are doing such an important job. Keep it up and thank you all.
