Beautiful pictures of this enigmatic species. On reading about the sharp decline in numbers I was reminded of the catastrophic drop in numbers of the Black Stilt in New Zealand and how, thanks to NZ’s Dept. of Conservation, this species was brought back from the brink. Perhaps it might be useful for WWT to liaise with DOC in Twizel (South Island) who now have considerable expertise on rearing wader chicks.
