Sightseeing and our first flight

A bit of a break from SBS for a while today to see some of the local sights.  One of the most amazing experiences of Anadyr is the hundreds of beluga whales that feed on salmon in the river, particularly around the docks.  Along with the beluga are harbour seals that also dine out on the prolific numbers of salmon.  The beluga are particularly hard to photograph, as they sort of look like upside down bathtubs bobbing in the water!

Whilst Liz and Ksenia were away watching the whales, we had our first flight! It was not that impressive, more of a one metre flutter, but nether the less it was still a flight. We will have to be extra care full when it comes to cleaning and feeding from now on.
