Good news this week as Sonadia Island in Bangladesh has been designated as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International, in recognition of its importance for non-breeding spoon-billed sandpipers.
As regular readers will know, the RSPB’s Rob Sheldon has been in Bangladesh with Sayam and Foysal of the Bangladesh Spoon-billed Sandpiper Conservation Project. The third and final post from there is available to read here.
It is great news and I sincerely feel that the Spoon-billed Sandpiper will increase in numbers in the near future.
