Roland, an aviculturist and bird-rearing veteran has worked on the Great Crane Project and the cirl bunting reintroduction. Last year he joined the expedition team in Anadyr as they returned from the breeding grounds. He reared and nurtured the young spoon-billed sandpipers to adulthood and through their long quarantine in Moscow. This year he will travel to Meinopylgino to rear the birds for head-starting.
