Headstarting is a collaborative effort between WWT, BirdsRussia and the RSPB, and occurs as part of the International Arctic Expedition mounted each year by BirdsRussia under the leadership of Dr. Evgeny Syroechkovskiy.

26 June 2011 Liza, Jochen and Egor were set to return from the search across the lake. Pavel and Nikolay were using the quad and boat to bring them back. The late news was that Jochen had found a nest.
